Connecting with Wisconsin Residents Through Engagement and Learning
UW Connects is a University of Wisconsin-Madison statewide engagement unit with the dual purpose of unifying outreach activities on campus, while serving as a one-stop-shop for people around the state looking for UW information and resources.
The goals of the unit are to:
- To support faculty, staff, graduate students, programs, and departments who engage with audiences around Wisconsin
- Unify outreach programming, messaging and impact to align with strategy
- Gather comprehensive data on program impact around the state— whether it’s well-seasoned outreach teams, or a graduate student in a lab taking on a new outreach activity.
- Support and advance UW interactions and communication with Wisconsin legislators
- Enhance the University’s overall reputation at a time when higher education is viewed less positively, especially outside of larger cities
- Provide a single connection point for internal and external entities; “UW Concierge Office”
- Reaffirm our institutional commitment to the Wisconsin Idea
UW Connects is housed in the Office of State Relations and Statewide Outreach.
Fran Puleo Moyer
UW Connects Director
Fran oversees UW Connects, a statewide outreach program housed in the UW-Madison Office of State Relations. UW Connects includes Badger Talks, Bucky’s Classroom, and the Badger Ambassador program. She has 20+ years of experience in program development, event management, community and public relations, marketing, and communications. Formerly the Community Relations Manager at Monona Terrace Community & Convention Center, she served as a spokesperson for the facility, managed events, and developed robust partnerships within the Madison business community. In addition, she previously served as an Outreach Program Manager at UW–Stevens Point, and has held administrative positions for several orchestras including the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony, and the Lake Forest Symphony. Fran is an artist and musician and currently serves as an Arts Commissioner for Dane County. She earned a bachelor’s degree in music performance from the University of Illinois and an MBA in marketing from DePaul University but is a proud Badger in her heart, and is honored to support programming which shares information and resources from campus with the people of Wisconsin.
